About Dagny
Dagny is an AI-first agency. Founder-led by Ali and Will, operators who paired at a prior startup and have spent the last two years building and shipping AI-powered work for real customers in production. We work with the industries about to get reshaped by AI but underserved by it today: political ops, NGOs, education, manufacturing, accounting. We partner long-term, embed deep, and turn the AI shift into wins for our customers.

The role
You are the first set of hands on the keyboard inside the customer's repo, their warehouse, their workflow. You sit next to Agentic Athletes, find the real problem, usually not the one in the brief, and ship working systems in production.
You work directly with the founders and Agentic Athletes. AI-driven development is the default, not a side experiment. We compound output with cutting-edge AI tools, and we expect you to do the same.
What you'll do
- Embed with customer teams and find where AI actually moves the needle. Usually not the place in the brief.
- Build and ship AI-powered workflows, applications, and data products. In production. Used by real people.
- Pair full-stack engineering with data science and ML where it earns its keep.
- Lean on AI tooling and our internal practices to ship in days what used to take quarters.
- Own the work end to end. Scope it, ship it, watch it run, fix what breaks.
- Operate autonomously. Nobody is filing Linear tickets for you. You find the next problem worth solving.
Who you are
We do not care about your title or where you went to school. We care about what you ship and how fast you learn.
A hacker.
You have built and shipped things people use. Side project, OSS, internal tool that saved your team a month. We want the artifact. Pedigree-collectors should not apply.
Commercially minded.
You think in ROI. You can spot what customers will pay for, cut scope ruthlessly, and ship the smallest version that delivers value.
AI-native.
Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor are part of your daily loop, not a buzzword. You know which tasks AI accelerates and which it does not, and you reach for the tool that wins.
Strong fundamentals.
You write code that holds up under production traffic. You read other people's code without flinching. Full-stack range required. DS/ML is a serious plus.
High autonomy and ownership.
Nobody is going to assign you work. You see the gap, you close it. You stay with the system until it runs.
Creative problem solver.
We do not say no. We find a solution. If the documented path does not exist, you build the path.
Hands on.
You would rather ship a working prototype today than schedule a meeting about it next Tuesday.

- Apps: Next.js, TypeScript, FastAPI, Python
- Infra: AWS, Azure, GCP, Vercel, Supabase
- Data / ML: Postgres and modern data tooling, tree-based models, NNs, regression. Anywhere ML earns its keep.
- AI dev tools: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor. Daily driver.
If you have not touched part of this stack but you can pick it up over a weekend, that is the bar.
Where you'll work
Remote. US timezones, PT or ET. Nearshore welcome. There is an enormous talent base outside the US and we want to tap it. No US visa sponsorship at this time. Occasional travel to customer sites when the work calls for it.
Compensation
This is a contract role first. We work hard, ship fast, and pay accordingly.
Base. Competitive contract rate, set per role.
Shipping bonus. Tied directly to what you build that customers pay for. Multiple projects in flight, you ship one, you pick up another, you make more. No ceiling. No lid.
Path to FTE. When the contract works, we convert. We are building this for the long run. We want partners, not freelancers passing through.
